RALF OBERGFELL is a self-taught photographer and artist. He was born in
Freiburg Germany (1971) and moved to London (1991) where he lives and
works.
He has studied at the London College of Printing (1996-1999) and became a
founding member of Photodebut (2002). Since then his photographs have been
shown in Photodebut's group exhibitions and appeared in Art Review, BBC, Bon,
Creative Review, DayFour, Der Spiegel, Herald Tribune, Time Out, Vogue Korea
and Grafik, the latter which awarded him with an emerging talent profile (2005).
With the support of UNESCO he has photographed the social and cultural
environments of the 'Urak Lawoi' (People of the Sea) in Borneo and Southern
Thailand. His photographs became published in UNESCO's publication 'Urak
Lawoi of the Adang Archipelago' (2007). In the same year he was nominated for
the Paris Photography (PX3) Award. Ralf's first book 'Last Stop' (a photographic
record of the London Routemaster bus) is published by Breedon Books and
supported with an exhibition at the London Transport Museum (spring 2008).
