THE MISSION

photodebut is an non-profit organization which intends to support, promote and connect ambitious photographers.

In recent years, photography has become a crowded and aggressively competitive industry - a cutthroat and often isolating environment in which photographers rarely encounter genuine expressions of support from fellow practitioners. By establishing photodebut, founders Jan von Holleben (former director, YPU-UK), Esther Teichmann (RCA & Rankin Photography) and Andy Porter (SIAD graduate) aim to encourage the sharing of ideas, imagery, and information amongst photographers, and to cultivate a positive and powerful photographic community. Drawing from its members’ collective strength, photodebut uses the framework of collaborative projects to develop a large professional network within the photographic industry. These can range from group exhibitions, publications, editorial and commercial commissions, photo-related conferences, educational programs, critical forums, portfolio reviews, and so on.

Whilst working in commercial, artistic, educational, and critical capacities, photodebut ultimately aspires to foster a proactive environment, in which photographers are truly committed to working together.

THE PHOTOGRAPHERS

photodebut’s photographers are all highly motivated and ambitious individuals, who exhibit widely throughout the world, publish extensively in a variety of international magazines and newspapers and receive commissions from a number of bodies. Whilst each of our photographers have a professional background in the photographic industry and their images are unique in both style and approach, all of photodebut’s members are unified by their passionate interest in the greater discourse of photography. Beyond that they share a desire to be part of a group that collectively promotes everyone through the production of engaging photographic work.
